I'm disappointed...

I understand, working in tech, that it must be hard to get a rollout compatible with all old things, but this is ridiculous. The only thing which actually remains is my old posts. No pictures, no settings, no links even...

Everyone else was worried about the change, and I wasn't too bothered, I thought 20six would get it right, as they've been good in the past.

And I still have faith that they may sort this out, but where will my friends' blogs be by then?! Will I really have to have a log in on a million different sites just to comment on my mates?
Nothing wrong with this in the first place
And lots of people have given up already. Lots went before, more have gone now, and I can't see them coming back.

What choice do I have... 20seven, blogspot, lj, endless choices. People will end up everywhere.

If it ain't broke...

aww rach,
it's not all that bad actually, all we have to do is convince everyone to come back to this one =)

Yep, Alex is right. Give it some time, Rach. The thing about this change is that it's the behind the scenes stuff that needed sorting out. Hopefully this will mean that we can all have a better, smoother blogging experience.

There are still loads of great people here and it's the people that have always made this place

Gah, I can't even upload a pic cos it's too damn big, it used to resize for you
I have to log in every time I want to comment, and every time I want to change anything. It's fundamentally flawed. I don't have the time to mess about with the HTML... if I did, I'd make my own website and put a weblog on there

Katja, the problem largely remains that most of the people I've ever really spoken to (most, I emphasize)... have either gone already or are entirely not impressed.
There are some BIG issues here, I work in IT and I know these aren't gonna be fixed easily or quickly...
and it's a real shame.

i had the same problem with the picture, and it doesn't work either.

just use this code and you can make it any size < img src="url" border="0" > and upload it on here tinypic.com

i hope i used the right code =D

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
ok so I can put it there... but I can't put it as my header, as I have to upload it! - and it's still 80k - 15k too big.
I always used to hate lj cos it was hard to figure out. And I always loved 20six cos it was easy. And now it's not.

Change is what change is. Whether it goes smoothly or not, it's always going to rub people up the wrong way; we're all familier with the way things were - we were happy with the way things were. It worked. We liked it.

The thing now is, that a lot of people's noses have been put out of joint. It was easy before, you didn't need to know how to do more than fill out simple forms and you'd have something great looking very quickly and easily; now it's all different and if you don't know html and all that associated stuff; it's a bit of a headache. A lot of extra work. [ Why they couldn't have retained the layout we were previously using is beyond me - but that's besides the point ]

I think, we're in a settling period now after the perceived trauma of all this change. Not that everything works smoothly yet; but it'll get there... and we'll get used to everything.

I don't like the admin screens [yet] - that's unfamilarity on my part, but I like the power to make things look how I want - show of my lack of design skills and colour-lack-of-co-ordination :-) I miss comment tracking; and the email tracking isn't working yet. But it will be, in the end.
